My name is Mary  Tweedy and I own a boutique photography studio located in Helena, AL that  specializes in newborns, children and family photography !:) .

Birmingham School Portraits is a division of Mary Tweedy Photography and it is specializing in modern and fresh school portraits photography

My goal is to provide a custom, boutique experience to all families attending the schools who have chosen me to photograph their students. My service is personal and professional. Unlike large, corporate photography operations, I only take on a few, select schools so that I can provide superior customer service and artistic images.

I never force a smile and simply aim to capture the essence of the children I photograph. No awkward poses or faces, just the authentic child, on the day. The results are genuine and timeless portraits that are far from the traditional cheesy photos we have become accustomed to with bright flashes and unflattering, busy backgrounds.  I provide light and fun experience for your children and take pride in providing an environment where the kids can relax and be themselves, naturally.

Why work with me

I am a completely online operation. Families are linked to password-protected online ordering galleries. Galleries are set up according to grade, homeroom, advisory, or whatever grouping which makes sense for the school. Each child will be provided 2-5 images, presented in both color and black and white. The family may chose the photos they want printed, as opposed to having a pose chosen for them. I also provide boutique product choices such as canvas gallery wraps and digital images for future printing and archiving. A what to expect flyer on ordering procedures and shooting day preparation will be provided to the school to be distributed to families prior to photo day.

Prints will be delivered and distributed by me to the school, if parents choose school delivery.

I provide all equipment and personnel needed for photo day.

I provide the school with all high resolution digital files to use for yearbooks, website, school advertising, school ID’s, or however the school wishes to use the images.

I handle any questions from parents and families about ordering and products.

I take staff photos and provide a discounted print package for staff members as well.

I am willing to work with schools to provide custom services that fit your unique needs.

HOW MANY STUDENTS CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE?

I have provided this service to schools as small as 60 and am ready to work with schools with as many as 1000 children. I have worked with kids ages 0  to 18 in my boutique school photography arena.

ARE THESE IMAGES EXPENSIVE?

I have competitive rates and nothing is due up front, all profit is made from ordering. I offer both print packages and digital negatives, where parents can print themselves. Print packages start at  $45, and our digital negative collections begin at $70. I also offer custom studio products, such as gallery wraps and framed enlargements.

I  donate a percentage of the net profit to the schools that I photograph!

WHAT TIME OF YEAR DO YOU CONDUCT THESE FINE ART SCHOOL PHOTO SHOOTS?

I work with each individual school to schedule shoots any time during the academic year.
